Its journey began on 6 February, and on the 7th, destiny arrived with Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Malaysia, as culture and conscience quietly drew two nations closer.
Akbar Khan’s film ‘Taj Mahal: An Eternal Love Story’ saw a renaissance with its first overseas release as its new journey began last week. The film’s world premiere in Malaysia marked the start of its global rollout, positioning the historical romance as a cinematic tribute to love and peace from India to the world. The timing drew added attention as it came just before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Malaysia visit on February 7 and 8, 2026, reflecting how culture and conscience quietly draw two nations closer.
Filmmaker Akbar Khan, who produced and directed the film, is now taking the project to global audiences with a renewed international rollout. The Malaysia premiere served as the international launch pad for the film’s wider release across multiple territories. He was joined at the premiere by members of the film’s cast, including gorgeous Pooja Batra, who plays the influential queen Noor Jahan, and dashing Zulfi Syed, who plays the younger Shah Jahan.
The gala premiere was graced by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Anwar Ibrahim, who watched the film for the second time in two months. He had viewed the film earlier to manage his schedule, yet chose to attend the premiere and remain seated through the screening. His full presence stood out at a time when many heads of state are known to make only brief ceremonial appearances for photo opportunities.
Akbar Khan also presented the Malaysian Prime Minister with a handcrafted miniature decorative replica of the Taj Mahal, made of white marble and specially created by artisans in Agra. The gesture symbolised India’s rich craftsmanship and cultural heritage, aligning with the film’s theme of enduring love and historical legacy.
Industry observers noted that the Prime Minister’s presence reflected respect for cinema and the arts while amplifying the film’s message of harmony and shared human values. The premiere placed Indian storytelling and culture before an international audience in a meaningful way.
With its Malaysia debut complete, ‘Taj Mahal: An Eternal Love Story’ now moves into its next phase of global release, carrying forward its message of love, peace and cultural connection.
